the homestead - virginia beach, virginia.

I'm not a huge fan of posed shots. I think there's more that captures the eye of the viewer when they actually view life standing still for that split second the camera lens goes off. Some posed shots are okay, especially if that's what the person is asking for - but for the most part, people are pleased when it comes to the candid angle of the camera and photograph.

I haven't been able to do many 'shoots' since moving here to Virginia Beach with my husband, but I've been able to take a lot of candid shots of the area in which we moved to. Not only that, but I've also had a lot of fun photographing our roommate, Jake, and his dog, Hurley. Hurley has to be one of the most attentive dogs that I've come across. Wherever Jake goes, she's right there beside or behind him looking up at him. Here are a few random shots of where we live, and some of Jake and Hurley.

This has to be one of my favorite pictures of my husband, even though you're unable to see his face. This was taken the day we got married, just a few hours later. He was so happy, and it totally shows here.

virginia [beach] is for lovers.

Although I'm from Northern Virginia and will always call Warrenton my home, I've been able to find peace out here in Virginia Beach, knowing this is an amazing place to lay my head at night. There's so many beautiful places to go and amazing things to capture. A few days ago, my husband and I went to the beach and just sat on the sand while I took some random shots of the beautiful ocean... And, my beautiful husband, who swears he's camera shy. I think not, haha!

christopher and brittany - couples session.

Not only are these two lovebirds from my hometown, but they're also both friends of mine. Christopher moved from our old town here to Virginia Beach several months ago, to go to school - and he and Brittany have been together for a little under three years now. She still lives back home, but plans to move out here; I'm hoping sooner than later. This girl's smile absolutely lights up a dark room in a matter of seconds! I've known the couple for a couple years now, and if there's one thing I can tell you about the two of them - it's the simple fact that they're deeply in love with each other... And laughter!

You guys were so much fun to shoot. Continue the laughter, and continue to grow with each other. Such a great love to watch and admire from the outside! Come visit again soon!!

a note to start with.

I still can't believe that I've received as much feedback as I have from all my greatest supporters when it comes to my photography. The biggest step for me, was actually putting my work out there to the point where it was decided [by myself, of course] that I'd make a business out of the thing in which I love the most - capturing moments in life through the lens of my camera. A lot of people have asked random questions about who I am, what made me start everything up and a little about my background. What better way than to start a blog to assist everyone in getting to know me AND view my work, all at the same time. So - let's tango, shall we?

Originally from Northern Virginia, I recently moved to Virginia Beach and got married to my amazing husband, Wade. We plan to stay here in the area, especially since the two of us are so fond of the ocean and all it has to offer. The environment out here is amazing. The people here are friendly, and most importantly... There are so many beautiful things around us here that are able to be captured with a camera. I love where I am right now, and plan to continue down this journey along the shore with such an amazing and supportive husband, like mine.

I started to take interest in photography when I was a sophomore in high school. A little after that, my younger cousin started to get into photography as well - and it really intrigued me how she was able to capture a certain light that you normally don't see at first glance in the smaller things in life. I know that sounds cheesy - but, it's just the way I've seen it since then. As soon as I got my Nikon D60 DSLR camera, I started to go 'crazy' shooting things left and right. After a few of my friends started to view my pictures firsthand, they started to ask me to do sessions with them and their significant others, friends and even some family members. This was my cue to start venturing out more when it came to the business aspect of everything. How great would it be to absolutely love the job in which you do on a day to day basis? So, here I am. Camera in hand. Ready to take on the world, one photoshoot at a time.
